Devin LeMahieu, a candidate for Wisconsin 9th District Senate, paid a visit to show support for the state’s business climate.

Devin LeMahieu, candidate for Wisconsin 9th District Senate, recently visited Badger Tag & Label to celebrate its business heritage and show support for the state’s business climate. While the economy continues to show mixed signs of improvement and with the ongoing challenges of operating a business in the ever-changing landscape, Badger has exhibited unprecedented growth with a 16.5% increase in sales year-to-date. When asked what contributed to that, Rita Horstmeier, sales and marketing manager at Badger, noted, “A number of factors have fueled our growth: we’ll produce minimum quantity orders that other tag and label printers won’t consider, we recently realigned our sales territories and that always brings fresh perspective, we added capabilities about a year ago, and some of our smaller competitors have gone out of business.” During LeMahieu’s visit at Badger, he toured the facility, talked with employees, and shared his candidacy platform. As a small business owner himself – LeMahieu owns and publishes the Lakeshore Weekly community shopper paper – he knows firsthand how decisions made at the state and federal levels affect businesses. LeMahieu has served on the Sheboygan County Board since 2006 and has worked to control spending in his role on the human resource, executive, and finance committees. These efforts have led to reduced taxes in four of eight years, the defeat of a county sales tax proposal, and a $13 million reduction in payroll related expenses. He hopes to bring his experience in reducing taxes, balancing budgets, and building strong coalitions to the Senate. LeMahieu’s opponent is Democrat Martha Laning. Badger Tag & Label Corporation produces tags and labels for customers throughout the nation. Based in Random Lake, Wisconsin, the company is a third-generation, family owned, privately held business that began in 1935. Badger prints flexographic and letterpress methods on paper and synthetic stocks and delivers the finished pieces in singles, rolls, sheets, ganged, or fanfolded. They also have UV digital printing capabilities for production of short run and specialty projects.
